Hey Gang,
It's time to start compiling donations for this years Silent Auction for Nationals in Richfield, Wisconsin in October. Last year everyone donated great items then they all turned around and donated handsomely huge amounts and we raised over $10,000. This year the fund raising across the country is rolling along fantastic and money donations are coming in from everywhere and I hope that at Nationals we can make another year end splash with the auction.
If you have any ideas or contacts that Heather from ACVIM Foundation could send a letter to for corporate donations please email her at heather@acvim.org and she'll get letters sent out. I know most places require 60 days notice so the sooner the better on those. |

Chase, doing what she loved most. Hey Gang, Here is an article recently published on the Dog Mountain News site. Please see the link at the end of the article to check out or purchase a beautiful print and support the "Chase Away Canine Cancer Campaign" of the ACVIM Foundation. Love Ya, Cera "Chase" was a black lab and a dock diving champion who passed away on June 28th, 2006 just shy of 7 years old, too soon for her time as many others. Below is a short excerpt about Chase as told by her "Mom", Cera Reusser, "I could tell you the longest story about the worst day of my life but that's not how Chase should be remembered. She left us yesterday after I took her to Sauvie Island one last time for a swim off a dock she has played on for years. It was strange: I have never seen the water in the Willamette so clear that you could see her entire body and her legs swimming away. She had a happy smile on her face and her tail was up and she enjoyed play time at the river. The cancer was getting her quicker than anyone expected so it was time for us to say good bye. My vet did a wonderful job and I held her to the end. She will never ever be forgotten and will fill our hearts forever with so many great memories." Sarah Simone and Forrest Gumpy Hi Gang,When I lost Chase almost two years ago I never would have dreamed of what my future would hold and what a simple idea would have accomplished in such a short amount of time. There are so many folks are out there wanting to help "Chase Away K9 Cancer" and the following is a note that was posted on quite a few forums by a 13 year old girl who is jumping in to help "Chase Away K9 Cancer" she's not asking for much but if alot of folks respond it will all add up and quick. If you could take the time to send her a card with $1.00 and also maybe forward this email on to your friends together we will find better ways for our best friends to fight cancer and win. 100% of the proceeds go to the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine Foundation to fund K9 Cancer studies.
www.chaseawayk9cancer.org thank you for everything, Cera Reusser
Hello Everyone, My name is Sarah-Simone and I am a Young Handler with the Ontario Dock Dogs. This fall one of my best friends was struck with an illness that no kid wants to hear. Forrest Gumpy had stage 4 lymphoma/cancer. Gumpy is only 5 years old and is a rescue that has had nothing but a hard life for 4 years. Now he has to fight once again. Since Gumpy's diagnosis I have decided to do what I can to raise fund for the Chase Away K9 Cancer Fund so that no other kid has to face this battle with their best friend. My goal for this year is to raise $1000.00 by October 2008. This is the date of Gumpy's diagnosis. |
